First up, a huge thank-you is in order for Janet Lee who was the key person responsible for making the No Plastic Bag Bazaar such a success. You da woman! 😀 Your awesome organizing skills, pulling all parties together to work towards the goal of raising funds for the Furry Friends Farm and Malaysian Nature Society was clearly visible. And you still had time to sing for us, AND get some shopping done!
For a quick overview of what the bazaar was all about, check out the Star news article here.
I’ve been giving some thought to expanding my line of whipped body butters ahead of this month’s Jaya 33 weekend bazaars. It’s partly in response to requests from friends and customers, but mostly in the spirit of fun and experimentation. :p
So while the base ingredients that make up the moisturizing properties of the whipped body butter will remain, here are some variants I can do with regards to the essential oils for scent:
I’m most looking forward to the Calming blend, to be honest. The bottle of chamomile EO sitting in my drawer is BEGGING to be used! But hey, I’m sure you guys have some ideas you’d like to share on what kind of properties you’d like from a body butter. Fire away! We could come up with something unique, who knows?
After weeks of experimenting with the formulation, hunting for the right containers, and spending a little time to label design, my Whipped Cocoa Body Butters are now available for sale! Let me tell you a little bit about their ingredients and properties here. 🙂
Just to be sure I get to the right place too! Notoriously bad at directions, I am. Now I know it’s a bit daunting to be around the Bukit Bintang area on a public holiday… But as an alternative way to spend the day with friends and family, it probably doesn’t get more entertaining on a small-scale, personal level as this. Hope to see you there!
Have you ever heard of the No Plastic Bag Bazaar? If you like the idea of environmentally-friendly shopping, then head over to Noble Banquet along Jalan Bukit Bintang this 31st August for a first-hand experience.
There’ll be plenty of pre-loved fashion items for sale and celebrities have even put up some of their own pieces for auction. Plus you can adopt a pet right there at the event! Now how’s that for a fun family day out? 🙂
I’ll also be selling my soap there, along with my soon-to-be-made whipped cocoa body butters. Will be showcasing my home-made soap batches which are quite different from what I currently offer, as I’m including organic vegetable and nut oils as part of my ingredients.
Sharing the table with me will be Andrew Kit of Ndevo. I *promise* I’ll get a photo of this handsome young chap, whose keen eye for beauty and detail has won his gift shop a loyal following. Latest by Tuesday next week, okay? 😉
Oooh, I can’t wait! Especially since I’ll get to meet with some old friends whom I haven’t had the chance to catch up with ever since my kids came along. It’s gonna be one fun afternoon! Please do drop by and support this event, would love to see you there.
…whipped body butter! Using a combination of just vegetable oils and essential oils, I’m now experimenting with blends that are luxuriant on skin without needing to rely on preservatives, stabilizers etc that are normally present in store-bought body butters.
I’ve been working hard at this–and the results are pretty exciting!
Lately I’ve turned to using body oils as moisturizers, opting out of the usual baby lotions which still contain preservatives. It takes just a little effort and some getting used to, but I guarantee you that if you have little tots about the house to care for, this is a real fun skincare routine that you’ll all enjoy.
Treat your face and neck to a real breakfast spread that will leave it comforted, soft and supple. This mask is great for all skin types, but those of you who need to care for dry skin could potentially benefit from it even more.
My username there is @salameander. I don’t just talk about soapmaking though–my tweets are also a mish mash of running commentaries on my children’s antics, personal musings, and what I do as a Minister of Finance and Home Affairs.
So look me up, and I’ll answer the question: “What are you doing?”
